FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The state panel considering whether to alter Arizona's Judicial Performance Review (JPR) rules has scheduled a hearing for public comment on the system that evaluates judges who are subject to retention elections.
The Committee on Rules of Procedure for Judicial Performance Review, a 13-member panel comprising judges, attorneys and members of the public and led by retired Chief Justice Charles E. Jones, welcomes public attendance and comment at the following forum:
- in Casa Grande on October 5, from 12-2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 777 North Pinal Avenue, Copper Room.
JPR is the process by which state merit selected judges are evaluated. Since 1993, a 30-member Arizona Commission on Judicial Performance Review has been charged with creating performance standards for judges, assessing whether or not judges meet those standards and communicating its findings to voters.
